Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education is organized as a 501(c)3 charitable organization and serves as the bridge between the students of Spalding County and the businesses, civic clubs and community members. “PIE”, as it is known, seeks to improve the quality of education for all students in the Griffin-Spalding County School System by forming partnerships with schools. These partnerships give students and schools access to a wealth of resources and services from individuals, businesses, industries, and civic and faith-based organizations who are Partners in Education. We have an independent board of directors, but the GSCS Director of Communications is appointed to serve as the Executive Director of PIE, which is a non-voting position.
Funds provided through United Way grants are applied to the classroom and field trip grant program through PIE. This program provides funds (up to $1,000) to teachers for the purpose of providing classroom materials and/ or experiences for students not covered by the school budget and/ or covering the cost of educational field trip experiences for students.
